TESTIMONIAL – Laurianna

At the beginning, finding my internship was hard searching work but with Placement in Portugal, things got easiest and fastest. I applied for the Marketing&Tourism trainee, following my desire to go abroad. It was my first internship so I didn’t have much expectations except working in a good atmosphere, getting on well with my managers and colleagues, not having a language barrier because I’m not fluent in English. It was a great experience, everybody was welcoming and helpful, and also, my tutor adapted my tasks and planning because I was staying in Sesimbra (1h30 away from Lisbon in public transports).

What did I enjoy the most? Team buildings of course! Overall, it was an enriching experience, professional and personal. First of all, my English level has improved, then I learned how a company works inside and a lot of things about the tourism sector especially in a big city like Lisbon. Personally, it made me challenge myself and leave my comfort zone.

First of all, PIP was the reason that I started looking for ways to explore the Erasmus Internship Journey. Before coming across the link of PIP i was dreaming but not specifically thinking that i could find a job in a country that i really would love to be in. And then it went well, I applied for some marketing positions and got accepted!

I was a Digital Media and Marketing Trainee. I applied to that position because my initial work experiences were also about marketing and social media in which I want to improve my skills. Getting the experience of living and working in Lisbon and being in the tourism sector was a gem for me! I loveddd working with young and fun people like me!

Before this internship I was pretty much anxious about making reels and using some other tools to create and content. Besides, I was also shy to get engaged with people but during the process I happily improved myself!

How would I describe my internship here? Get out of your comfort zone.

TESTIMONIAL – Rishi

I worked with PiP because I needed to work for some company abroad for exposure. I applied for the ‘Marketing and Tourism Trainee’ position because it was related to my previous work experience. Before starting the internship, I expected a friendly work culture and flexible working hours, and well, working here was as I expected. Overall, my internship period was fantastic. I most enjoyed being entrusted with decision-making power during that internship and I enriched my communication skills, improved my English knowledge, and learned how a business works.

Meanwhile, I travelled a lot in Portugal after the working hours. Went trekking on weekends. Also, I made a lot of professional connections which would surely help me in career perspective. If I could describe the internship experience with a few words, it would be: Four 'E's >Exciting, Educational, Empowering & Enjoyable. On the other hand, I faced some difficulties in understanding the business model but it was thoroughly explained step by step to me by my manager.

For a long time, I wanted to travel abroad as part of an Erasmus internship, and on the website of my university, I found the company Placement in Portugal, which helps students with finding an internship in Portugal, which I considered to be an ideal destination to spend the summer. :) I completed my internship as a Sales assistant trainee and the internship met all my expectations. I improved my communication skills, improved my language and had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people from different countries of the world, for which I am very grateful. All colleagues were kind and helpful. Despite the working hours, I had the opportunity to travel a lot and get to know Portugal. We also had the opportunity to participate in events organised by the Events department. I did not have any serious complications during the internship and I definitely recommend using this opportunity.

TESTIMONIAL – Christina

I am Christina from Greece. I decided to work in Portugal because I always wanted to travel here so I thought it would be a good opportunity to travel around the country. I should admit that my expectations have been met to the fullest! I applied for the WordPress developer position. I learned a lot of things and I had the chance to work with awesome people! The work atmosphere is really good, I was feeling free to express new ideas, try new things and ask for help if I didn’t know something already. Of course, people at the office were there for us for any problem or advice we needed in everyday life. I would say that there was a balance between work and life during my stay in Lisbon, because I had days off and some time to meet friends and explore the city as well.

If I had to describe this internship with 3 words I would say: Cooperation, Smiles, Progress. Overall, it was a great experience that everyone should try. You learn a lot about yourself, meet new people and make memories that you will last forever.

Applying to Placement in Portugal was the best decision so far for me! I wanted to experience the Erasmus life outside of my country and thankfully with PiP the recruitment process was very pleasant and quick and in no time, I was preparing myself to move to Portugal. I applied for the recruitment assistant position, because of my interest in HR and studies in Human Resourcement Management. The internship met all my requirements and surprised me with much more. I learned a lot in my field of interest and beside that I met some amazing people, that I got to travel with through Portugal and explore Lisbon. Living abroad for the first time in Portugal gave me a lot of new opportunities and I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone and grew as a person personally and professionally. I had the best time in my life.

I chose Placement in Portugal to benefit from the wide range of internship opportunities it provides. In this company, I had the chance to improve myself and my language in many areas.

Lisbon is a very rich city in terms of history and culture, you have plenty of time to explore the city after work. During your internship, you meet people from many different nationalities and cultures, which is very important for personal development. I am very happy to have had the opportunity to be an intern here!

TESTIMONIAL – Alessandra

I always wanted to experience working abroad, and when I started planning it, I immediately thought of Lisbon. Portugal has been in my bucket lists for a long time and I seized the opportunity at the end of my Master’s Degree. Looking for an internship in Portugal wasn’t that easy, but finding Placement in Portugal changed the tables. The whole application process went smoothly and PiP Team helped me with all the documents to be filled-in and many other tasks.

Since the very beginning of the internship, I’ve enjoyed the time at the office thanks to the stimulating and young, but professional atmosphere. I did learn several new activities and company-related tasks, while improving my soft skills and enhancing the ability to work in a dynamic team (but also my Portuguese knowledge ). Fun times were not missing, especially when filming and editing contents for the social media accounts of the company - yes, I chose the position of Social Media Manager and Business Generator! How would I describe it? Creativity, thinking out-of-the-box, exciting. If you’re looking for an Erasmus+ experience in Portugal, PiP will be ready to welcome you in a challenging - yet friendly - working environment!

TESTIMONIAL – Haniye

When I applied for the internship for placement in Portugal I thought they are like a thousand other websites which you can find on the internet and I had no hope that they would help me like they did.

But I really had a good experience with them because they were fast, accurate, so helpful and reliable.

I wanted to come to Portugal to do my internship abroad and at the same time I knew I could enjoy my time there because it's such a beautiful place. And fortunately I was right and I'm so glad about that.

Of course being in any company with any position would have challenges and difficulties and it ́s not something avoidable, but you can learn from that and help yourself to grow, so in the end it would be so good to know how you will deal with different situations. The best thing that I really enjoyed during my internship was that I could communicate with so many different people from around the world who were coming to Lisbon to spend their holiday, it was a great experience that might happen to you rarely. And also working with other interns who are from other countries with different work cultures gives you a perspective for the future to know better how you can work in international companies as an expert.

So after spending 4 months here I'm happy with my decision and I really recommend other people to spend their internship abroad, especially in Portugal.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO FIND AN INTERNSHIP ABROAD?

There are many reasons that motivated me to do an internship abroad. The first reason, we live in a global world where intercultural skills are very important from an economic, but most important, from a personal and cultural point of view. I wanted to work with people from different backgrounds to broaden my horizon, get to know different working styles, and maybe adopt some of the working styles for myself. The second reason, as I am passionate about traveling, I thought it would be a good way to combine professional experience and my personal interest by working in a foreign country.

TESTIMONIAL – SAMUELA PERSICHILLO

Samuela posing with lake in a garden behind her.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE PLACEMENT IN PORTUGAL’S PROCESS IN 3 WORDS, AND WHY?

Easy, quick, and followed. We are talking about a selection process in which you have people that follow you in every single step and are there for you for every single necessity. I think this is a huge plus since going to work and live abroad all by yourself can be scary sometimes.

WHY DO YOU CONSIDER THIS WAS A VALUABLE EXPERIENCE?

Simply because I grew up. Working for a company with an international background helps you to be more aware of the existence of different types of mindsets and ways of doing. Knowing other cultures is always the best way to be the best version of yourself.

WAS THIS INTERNSHIP IN YOUR FIELD OF STUDIES? HAVE YOU LEARNED TO LOOK AT THE DEPARTMENT WHERE YOU WORKED FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE?

The internship was in my field of studies. I graduated in Psychology and the HR field is what interests me the most. Since I had the opportunity to work with people from other countries and with different backgrounds, for sure I changed my mindset and there is nothing greater than opening your mind.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE DURING THIS INTERNSHIP.

Before I decided to hold an internship abroad, I was unsure of my next step in life. I was looking for something to do after my degree that could help me to gain more experience in an international context in the HR field. So when I found a position as a Process Manager trainee for Placement in Portugal, I jumped at the chance. Unluckily the starting date was in March 2020, at the beginning of the lockdown: I was not able to leave Italy and I thought that everything would have been lost. Despite that, the Placement in Portugal team did not leave me alone. They offered me the opportunity to start the internship remotely and I did it for 3 months. I was daily followed by my manager and even without real-life interaction, I was treated like a member of a family. For sure this has been one of the dearest experiences in my life. OBRIGADA!

TESTIMONIAL – GABRIELA MEDEIROS

WHY DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR INTERNSHIP AT PLACEMENT IN PORTUGAL A VALUABLE EXPERIENCE?

Being a trainee in Placement in Portugal was an incredible experience. I was looking for an opportunity to grow during the pandemic and found this amazing position! Of course, due to the current situation, the internship was done remotely, something that they did very well. I didn’t feel lost, at least not more than I would feel in the first few days of any work. I always got support and liberty to make questions without feeling judged, which made it possible for me to grow a lot in those short months.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE DURING THIS INTERNSHIP.

During my interview process, I feel that the interviewer was kind and helpful, although the processes seemed simple and clear they were always open to explaining any questions and kept me always informed about my situation, something that I thought was amazing. Later I discovered that that was not only the person who I was in contact with but the whole company. Helping the candidates during all the process and also during the internship. I would recommend the company to any and everyone. Although I stayed for a really short time it was an amazing experience and I feel I learned a lot from it.

TESTIMONIAL – PETROS XENIOS

Petros posing with a traditional Aveiro house on the back

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE PLACEMENT IN PORTUGAL’S PROCESS IN 3 WORDS, AND WHY?

Quick, candidate friendly (that’s 2 words actually!). I was called for an interview and then the same day I had the interview with the company’s manager. My life changed within a single day. People should understand that one day you can do what you are doing regularly and this exact day you can be told that you are going to work abroad. Amazing feeling!

WHY DO YOU CONSIDER THIS WAS A VALUABLE EXPERIENCE?

Was it a valuable experience? Well, why don’t give it a shot? I had the moment of my life and l would do it again and again if I had the chance to. But as with all experiences in life this one has also the subjective element. For me it will always be an indelible period of my life and for someone else it could be just OK, mediocre. Seize the moment that this internship and living abroad can give you and you will share the same opinion as me.

WAS THIS INTERNSHIP IN YOUR FIELD OF STUDIES? HAVE YOU LEARNED TO LOOK AT THE DEPARTMENT WHERE YOU WORKED FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE?

This internship was within my field of interest and expertise. I think that I learned more things for HR that I could do if I have stayed in homeland, because interviewing people from Madagascar at one moment and the other from Zimbabwe gives you a wide perspective of how the world works. Human Resources does not (or at least should not) be restricted within “civilized” Western cultures. As an HR intern and Psychology graduate I kept reminding myself that the candidate I had in front of me had different cultural background than mine and I should not let some cultural differences influence my judgement.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE DURING THIS INTERNSHIP.

My Instagram followers rose, I want to get a memory tattoo… No, I am kidding (or probably not). This internship changed me as a person if not altogether at least 180 degrees.

I learned how I can effectively be a part of a multicultural team and how I can implement my skills and knowledge in the working field. What remains with me though is the people I met throughout this internship. Some exquisite candidates that really impressed me or better inspired me with their achievements, the local kind Portuguese who remind me of Greeks most of the times and I never felt homesick and last but not least my wonderful team. Some left and other remain but these people are the ones that were my everyday point of reference and let me grow personally and professionally. Because in the very end, what is life if you don’t share your experiences with other people?

I travelled a lot during these three months and the monument of discoveries in Belem reminds me every time I stare at its magnificence the poem of Ulysees by Alfred Lord Tennyson (fun fact: Ulysees aka Odysseus is a main figure in Greek mythology and the greek legend tells of Ulysses also as the founder of Lisbon, Portugal, calling it Ulisipo): To strive, to seek, to find… And not to yield

We interviewed our former intern Panagiota Papageorgiou from Greece, she shared with us her experience with our services in finding an internship.

During my 3 month internship, I was a part of a Human Resources company. I joined meetings and received a lot of information, thanks to close guidance of my manager I understood the process quickly.

Despite the professional environment there was still an informal atmosphere, making me feel at home. I’ve learned a lot about recruitment: interviewing candidates, communicating with them in person, assessing their profiles to see if they match with the position and having the opportunity to give my feedback as well.

Completing this amazing period of my life was a valuable experience on many levels. In short: Placement in Portugal is the ideal partner to help you with the first steps of your career!

We interviewed our former intern Mircea Mazuru from Romania, he shared with us his experience with our services in finding an internship.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO FIND AN INTERNSHIP ABROAD?

I’ve always wanted to go abroad to work for a longer period of time and I chose Lisbon as I already knew it is a great destination. I wanted to work inside an international team and I also wanted to challenge myself to live alone in another country to prove myself that I can be fully independent.

HOW DID YOU LIKE PLACEMENT IN PORTUGAL’S PROCESS OF FINDING AN INTERNSHIP?

I really appreciated Placement in Portugal’s services. To be honest, it was one of the few companies which actually answered my inquiry email. I could tell from the very start that they offer a professional service because of how my questions were handled and how quick they answered. The process was simple, transparent and effective. I managed to find an internship that matched my requirements & skills.

WERE YOUR EXPECTATIONS ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE MET?

I can wholeheartedly say that my expectations were surpassed. I expected a strict & boring workplace and I found such a positive team and I made lots of good friends. The work flow was pleasant and I managed to improve my skills in Marketing & HR.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND PLACEMENT IN PORTUGAL TO OTHER PEOPLE? WHY?

I will recommend Placement in Portugal to all my friends & acquaintances who are interested in doing an internship abroad. I also already recommended Placement in Portugal to my university’s Erasmus office, and I have faith that my colleagues will be in good hands. If I had the option to do my internship again, I would always choose Placement in Portugal!
